disk jockeys from Pittsburgh in the 60’s and 70’s

I really feel that the radio dj’s from the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania haven't gotten all the credit that they deserve with the exception of Porky Chedwick ok starting things off with Mad Mike Metrovich he released 4 oldie albums that now are collectors items especially the red vinyl one he also worked on many different radio stations and was best know for being the head disk jockey from West view Dance land and through his life collected over one million records in his own personal collection then we have Bob Mack that ran a chain of teen dances and also did his own radio show on WZUM he not only ran dances but brought in national recording artist to entertain like Smokey Robinson, Sam & Dave and many other recording artists to all the teen dances that he ran now Charlie Apple the wild man on radio the ordained preacher that still spins the tunes. Then Zeke Jackson that did an oldie show on WARO in Cannonsburgh, Pennsylvania, and then there was brother Youngblood and Mac they are gone now but worked on the public broadcasting station then Bob Lavorio not only did his oldie radio show but also his own oldie album he is now retired. Dom Bombard ran an oldie show on WKTQ 13Q in the 80's he now is in New York and changed his name to Bob Shannon. and one of the dj's I remember best was Terry Lee on WMCK McKeesport Pennsylvania was best known for his music for the lovers portion of his show some of the best slow ballads to be played anywhere some of those ballads are still some of my very favorites still to this day. Plus the teen clubs, teen dances and that dj's like myselfthat played the best music from all the dj's on the air. We lost Mad Mike he died of a heart attack. I really wish the public broadcasting would do a story and interview the dj's that are still living to preserve a part of Pittsburgh history before we lose it forever through time and death of the It would make a fantastic story and would give credit to all the unsung dj's. That played and made music on the radio fun. It was a great time to grow up. and I am glad I was there to enjoy it
